SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Icy road conditions have led to numerous crashes in Vermont.

State police say they responded to approximately 13 separate crashes Tuesday night in the greater Chittenden County area.

Interstate 89 northbound in South Burlington was closed for two hours due to multiple motor vehicle accidents.

State police say one crash involved a tractor-trailer and seven other vehicles. Traffic delays because of the northbound lanes being blocked then resulted in additional crashes.

State police say deteriorated road conditions also led to crashes on the southbound side of the interstate in the same area.

Only one minor injury was reported in the collisions.
