TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Gov. Chris Christie has continued New Jersey’s drug outreach program by releasing an ad spotlighting new treatment services.
The Republican governor is featured in the 30 second ad which highlights a state-sponsored drug treatment hotline and informational website. Christie introduced both features during his State of the State address earlier this month, along with other measures.
The ads will air in New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia markets. A spokesperson said the commercial was funded by the state’s Health Department and its Homeland Security office.
Christie’s push to fight addiction is a response to the spike in opioid deaths in New Jersey. The state more than doubled the national rate of heroin-caused deaths in 2015.
