ERIE, Pa. (AP) - A former official of a northwestern Pennsylvania city has agreed to pay restitution after pleading guilty in an embezzlement case.

The Erie Times-News (https://bit.ly/2jiRf4U ) reports that Cheryl Capela, a former Union City secretary, manager, and treasurer, pleaded guilty Monday to four felony counts of mail fraud. Capela must pay back $203,175 to Union City as part of her plea deal with the U.S. attorney’s office.

Federal prosecutors alleged that the former secretary used city checks and the borough’s official credit card to pay off personal credit card debt and buy groceries. According to prosecutors; Capela mailed pre-signed borough checks to her credit card company when paying bills.

Sentencing has been scheduled for June 5.
