WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) - A man is dead and two people are injured after an apparent domestic dispute led to a shooting and stabbing in West Valley City.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2jmHva4 ) that police responded early Tuesday after a woman called to report the dispute. When she was on the phone, a gunshot could be heard.

Police arrived to find an elderly man dead of a gunshot would. A 23-year-old believed to be the victim’s grandson surrendered to police and was taken into custody.

Another man and the woman who called authorities were injured and taken to the hospital. The man suffered a possible stab wound and the woman was injured by a gunshot.

West Valley City police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku says the older man and the younger man were arguing before the incident.
