LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Ian Baker scored 20 points and Jemerrio Jones had 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead New Mexico State to a commanding 94-71 win against UMKC on Saturday night for its 16th-straight win.
The Aggies haven’t lost since Nov. 18 and are tied with Oregon for the third-longest active winning streak in the country. Gonzaga has the longest at 19 and Kansas has 18.
New Mexico State (18-2, 5-0 Western Athletic Conference) led 13-9 on Jones’ tip in, Jonathon Wilkins made a 3-pointer, and Braxton Huggins’ jumper extended the Aggies’ lead to 11.
Wilkins’ layup with 4:12 to play before halftime made it a 35-20 score. New Mexico State shot 16 for 35 from the floor (46 percent) in the first half to 34 percent (11 for 32) for UMKC. Wilkins added 15 points for the Aggies.
LaVell Boyd led UMKC (9-12, 2-3) with 18 points and Xavier Bishop and Broderick Newbill each scored 11.
