SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - University of Utah students are calling on administrators to make the campus a sanctuary for undocumented students.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/2kaBPRZ ) that about 50 students walked out of their classes Thursday to protest the inauguration of Donald Trump and to call for protections for students. The protest was organized by Students for a Democratic Society, a group that has raised objections to Trump’s stance on immigration.

The student group submitted a petition to the university in November, requesting that it adopt sanctuary status.

Protest organizer Bryn Dayton says the university is working to further a measure that would prevent undocumented students from being deported.
