HONOLULU (AP) - Hawaii Attorney General Doug Chin is joining several states opposing President Donald Trump’s nominations for U.S. attorney general and head of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Chin joined five other state attorneys general Friday saying Sen. Jeff Sessions is unqualified to serve as the country’s attorney general. Attorneys general from New York, Maryland, Oregon, Massachusetts and the District of Columbia signed a letter to congressional leaders.

Chin also opposes Trump’s pick of Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt to become Administrator of the EPA.

He joined Massachusetts, New York, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont attorney generals.

Their letter says Pruitt sought to block the EPA from fulfilling its mandates under the Clean Air Act through lawsuits. During his confirmation hearing, Pruitt said climate change is real.
