Donald Trump Jr. said Friday that his father has been “humbled” — even if the president-elect might not show that outwardly — as the elder Mr. Trump prepares to be sworn in as the 45th president of the United States.
“I’m feeling great, and he’s doing great,” the president-elect’s son said in a phone interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“I think he’s been humbled by the whole process,” he said. “Whether he shows that outwardly or not is one thing, but I’ve seen it with him throughout.”
“Even though this is two months ago that we found out that we had won, really getting here yesterday, going to Arlington [Cemetery], seeing these things, the history, everything, the magnitude of it all … it really took that long to set in,” he said.
“You’re going so hard during the campaign that it sort of desensitizes you almost to virtually any emotion, if that makes any sense. It’s just so brutal,” Mr. Trump said.
“I was like, I wonder when it’s going to finally hit me that hey, this is real, and it was yesterday,” he said. “I know he’s experienced a lot of that, and he’s just ready to get to work.”
