PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island commission has approved the next step in a New York developer’s plan for a high-rise.
The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2jBQt3Y ) the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission voted in favor of permitting Jason Fane to submit a proposal for one luxury high-rise on the Providence River on Wednesday. Fane originally approached the commission about three high-rise apartment towers in November but later changed his plan.
In an interview after the meeting, Fane seemed unclear about the commission’s provision for building only one tower.
The commission outlined three requirements for the project. Fane must confine the development of the tower to the designated space, share a project budget, and receive approval for the height of the tower.
Fane said one tower will need at least $15 million in state subsidies.
