SCARBOROUGH, Maine (AP) - A former Scarborough therapist has admitted in a plea deal that he sexually assaulted a client and then wrongfully contacted her as he awaited trial.
The Portland Press Herald (https://bit.ly/2jqSM7w ) reports Kelly O’Rourke, of Portland, will serve two years in prison after pleading guilty on Wednesday to a gross sexual assault charge and violating the conditions of his release.
O’Rourke has been jailed since July.
The victim testified that O’Rourke isolated her from family and friends after she began seeing him five years ago for treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder, severe anxiety and depression.
The Associated Press doesn’t typically identify victims of sexual assault.
O’Rourke’s license to practice social work was suspended last summer. He apologized to the victim before he was sentenced.
