OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Marcus Tyus scored 30 points, his fourth 30-plus point output of the season, Tra-Deon Hollins became the school’s all-time steals leader, and Nebraska-Omaha beat Denver 97-88 on Wednesday night.
Hollins, who finished with two steals to give him 192 for his career in just 52 games, also finished with 24 points. Mitchell Hahn added 14 points for the Mavericks, who shot 56.4 percent.
The Mavericks (11-9, 4-3 Summit League) have won a season-best four straight games.
Joe Rosga scored 18 points for Denver (11-8, 3-3), which shot 63.6 percent and made four more field goals than Nebraska-Omaha. But the Pioneers finished in a minus-15 hole in 3-point shooting and hit 12 fewer free throws.
The Mavericks held a double digit lead for much of the second half until a late Denver run cut their lead to 87-82 with 3:16 to go. But Tyus answered with a 3-point play, and Nebraska-Omaha held on from there.
