CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A Casper doctor and his wife have pleaded not guilty to multiple charges alleging they sold prescriptions for painkillers.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2jXmznt ) that Dr. Shakeel Kahn pleaded not guilty to 20 federal counts Tuesday, including one count of continuing criminal enterprise, which carries a potential life sentence. His wife, Lyn Kahn, pleaded not guilty to eight charges.
The couple is accused of selling prescriptions for large amounts of opioids and anti-anxiety medication to people who did not need the drugs, but filled the prescriptions and sold the drugs on the street.
The Kahns were arrested in August. They had been freed on bond until they were returned to jail last week amid allegations that they violated the terms of their release by talking to witnesses in the case.
