DEKALB, Ill. (AP) - Eugene German scored 12 points and Marin Maric added 11 while grabbing 12 rebounds as Northern Illinois held off a late rally to beat Miami (Ohio) 62-58 on Tuesday night.

Northern Illinois held a 31-24 lead at the break and was up 54-46 with 5:41 left in the game. The RedHawks rallied to close to 57-53 after Michael Weathers drilled a 3 with 2:17 left. Maric made four of Northern Illinois’ five free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

German was 5 of 6 from the floor. Jaylen Key and Dontel Highsmith added 10 apiece for the Huskies (12-6, 4-1 Mid-American Conference), who have won four consecutive and eight of their last nine games.

Northern Illinois made 16 of 23 free throw attempts while the RedHawks made 9 of 11. Miami (OH) hit 22 field goals and the Huskies made 20.

Weathers led the RedHawks (8-10, 1-4) with 18 points.
