Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham said Tuesday she’s considering a challenge to U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine in Mr. Kaine’s bid for re-election in Virginia.
“I’m considering,” Ms. Ingraham said on “Fox and Friends.” “I haven’t made any decisions yet.”
“I haven’t made any decisions, but a number of folks in Virginia who are well-connected are very interested in my running and that’s very flattering,” she said.
Mr. Kaine, the 2016 Democratic vice presidential nominee, faces his first campaign for re-election to the Senate in 2018.
Ms. Ingraham has clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and was a speechwriter in the Reagan administration.
In 2014, she helped promote the campaign of Rep. Dave Brat, Virginia Republican, in his underdog campaign against then-House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, saying Mr. Cantor had betrayed conservatives on the issue of immigration.
