HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) - Mikey Dixon scored a career-high 27 points as Quinnipiac prevailed 97-91 over Iona in overtime on Saturday.
Chaise Daniels added 22 points and Peter Kiss and Donovan Smith had 15 points apiece for the Bobcats (6-11, 3-4 MAAC)).
In the overtime period, a Reggie Oliver 3-pointer capped a 10-1 start for the Bobcats that also included a dunk by Smith and Quinnipiac led 87-78. Kiss sank another 3 to make it 91-80 with 1:16 to go and the Bobcats led the rest of the way.
The Bobcats trailed 75-69 late in the second when Dixon sank two free throws and Daniels hit two layups to tie it, 75-75, with 1:57 to play. Daniels made another layup to put the Bobcats up 77-75 with 1:09 remaining and Iona’s Jordan Washington replied with another to tie it again at 77 and send the game into overtime.
Washington led the Gaels (10-7, 3-3) with 25 points.
