SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A man who murdered three members of his ex-wife’s family and torched their home to try and cover his tracks has been sentenced to three consecutive life sentences plus 35 years.

The Spokesman-Review reports (https://goo.gl/i9v6y9 ) 31-year-old Roy H. Murry provided no explanation Thursday in court for his actions.

Murry only answered, “No, your honor,” when the judge asked whether he wished to make a statement.

Murry was convicted by a jury in December of the May 2015 killings of Terry and Lisa Canfield, and her son John Constable in their home just north of Spokane.

Murry’s defense attorney said Murry had suffered emotional and physical harm during his service in the Iraq War.
