INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A homeless man convicted in the fatal beating of an Indianapolis pizza delivery man has been sentenced to 68 years in prison.

A Marion County judge on Friday sentenced 29-year-old Jeremiah Roberts. A jury had convicted him in December of murder and robbery.

Prosecutors say Roberts and an accomplice, Derek Romano, lured 49-year-old John Sullivan to an Indianapolis home with the intent of robbing him.

The Indianapolis Star reports (https://indy.st/2jg2Nqk ) authorities say the pair tied Sullivan’s hands behind his back with duct tape, fatally beat him with a hammer and drove off in his car.

Romano pleaded guilty to murder in February 2015 and is serving a 55-year prison sentence.

Authorities say the men were drifters who hitchhiked across the country until they arrived in Indianapolis shortly before the murder.
