PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A night of violence in Philadelphia ended with two people dead and six others wounded in five separate shootings.

Police say the gunfire started around 6:55 p.m. Thursday when two men, ages 18 and 23, were shot by two assailants in the Germantown section of the city.

Just after 8 p.m. officers were dispatched to 76th Street and Ogontz Avenue, where a 19-year-old man was shot 10 times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Minutes after the second shooting, police say a 40-year-old man was killed when he was shot in the head execution-style in the city’s Frankford neighborhood.

Police say two others were wounded in west Philadelphia during the 9 o’clock hour.

The shootings remain under investigation.
