BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Bryce Alford scored a career-high 37 points, hitting nine of UCLA’s 19 3-pointers, and the fourth-ranked Bruins beat Colorado 104-89 on Thursday night.
It was the most 3-pointers for the Bruins (17-1, 4-1 Pac-12) this season, surpassing the previous mark of 18 in the season opener against Pacific.
Alford was 11 of 18 from the field, including 9 of 14 from 3-point range. Alford’s previous best was 31 points against Oregon on Feb. 27, 2014.
Isaac Hamilton hit four 3-pointers on his way to 20 points.
Xavier Johnson had 21 points for the Buffaloes (10-7, 0-4), who have dropped four straight to open conference play for the first time since 2008-09 when they were in the Big 12.

No. 5 GONZAGA 93, LOYOLA MARYMOUNT 55
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Przemek Karnowski scored 17 points and Gonzaga remains the nation’s only undefeated Division I basketball team.
Zach Collins scored 15 points and Silas Melson added 13 for Gonzaga (16-0, 4-0 West Coast), which has the nation’s longest winning streak at 16 games. Six Zags scored in double figures.
Buay Tuach scored 19 points for Loyola Marymount (8-8, 1-4), which has lost 15 straight games to Gonzaga dating to 2010.
Gonzaga has shot better from the field than all 16 of its opponents this season. They shot 53 percent, while holding the Lions to 34 percent, including 26 percent in the decisive second half.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Lauri Markkanen scored a career-high 30 points and Kadeem Allen added 18 for Arizona.
Arizona (16-2, 5-0 Pac-12) turned the first of two regular-season games in this rivalry into a laugher from the opening tip.
Behind a rash of 3-pointers and rim-rattling dunks, the Wildcats scored the game’s first 12 points and kept pushing. Dusan Ristic scored 16 points and Markkanen made 4 of 7 from 3-point range.
Arizona shot 57 percent, had 25 assists on 34 field goals and a 38-22 rebounding advantage. The Wildcats also scored 19 second-chance points on 12 offensive rebounds.
Obinna Oleka had 22 points for the Sun Devils (9-9, 2-3).

IOWA 83, No. 17 PURDUE 78
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Peter Jok scored 29 points with eight assists and six rebounds and Iowa rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit.
Freshman Tyler Cook had 16 points for the Hawkeyes (11-7, 3-2 Big Ten), who beat a ranked team at home for the second time this season.
Caleb Swanigan, who led Purdue (14-4, 3-2) with 17 points, missed a layup in front of the rim with 13.8 seconds left and the Boilermakers down 79-78. Cordell Pemsl missed a subsequent free throw, but Iowa got the ball back after a lengthy review and Jordan Bohannon hit two from the line.
Dakota Mathias missed a contested 3 with 4 seconds left for Purdue, which lost for the first time this season to a team not in this week’s Top 25.
Isaac Haas and Carsen Edward each scored 13 points for the Boilermakers.

No. 18 WISCONSIN 89, OHIO ST. 66
MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Bronson Koenig scored 21 points as Wisconsin recovered from a poor shooting performance four days earlier.
Wisconsin (14-3, 3-1 Big Ten) shot 39 percent from the field on Sunday, including just 2 of 14 from 3-point range, as Purdue snapped the Badgers’ nine-game winning streak.
Wisconsin had no such troubles with the Buckeyes (10-7, 0-4). The Badgers shot 49 percent from the field, including a season-best 55 percent from the 3-point line.
JaQuan Lyle led the Buckeyes with 13 points.

No. 20 NOTRE DAME 67, MIAMI 62
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) - V.J. Beachem sank the go-ahead basket and made the clinching steal as Notre Dame rallied from a four-point deficit in the final 2 1/2 minutes.
The Fighting Irish (15-2, 4-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) outscored Miami 10-1 down the stretch to earn their sixth straight victory. Their four league wins have been by a total of 18 points.
Miami (11-4, 1-2) had its 21-game home winning streak snapped.
Matt Farrell led the Irish with 15 points and six assists, and Beachem had 13 points.
Miami senior Davon Reed tied a career high with 21 points.

No. 21 SAINT MARY’S 74, PORTLAND 33
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Calvin Hermanson scored a career-high 27 points for Saint Mary’s.
Jock Landale added eight points and 10 rebounds for the Gaels (15-1, 5-0 West Coast Conference), who led by as many as 44 points. Evan Fitzner also had eight points. Hermanson was the only Gael in double figures.
Alec Wintering, who leads the conference with an average of 21 points a game, was held to just four points for the Pilots (9-6, 2-1). Jazz Johnson led Portland with 13 points.
The Pilots’ lowest-ever point total was 27 points, in a 43-27 loss to Pacific Lutheran in 1947-48.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Troy Caupain scored 16 points and blunted SMU’s comeback.
The Bearcats (14-2, 4-0) won a matchup of the last two unbeaten teams in American Athletic Conference play, taking their seventh straight game overall. Gary Clark led Cincinnati with 18 points, including two 3s that matched his career high.
SMU (14-4, 4-1) lost its 10-game winning streak, which tied for third-longest in school history. Sterling Brown led the Mustangs with a season-high 20 points and 11 rebounds, but missed a 3-point shot that would have given the Mustangs the lead with 10 seconds left.

UTAH 86, No. 25 USC 64
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Devon Daniels scored 17 points and Utah earned its first win against a ranked team this season.
The Utes overcame a sluggish start and throttled the Trojans for the final 35 minutes of the game.
Utah fell behind 10-0 at the start and then dominated the rest of the first half to take a 44-31 lead.
Daniels finished two points shy of his career high, and David Collette and Lorenzo Bonam added 15 apiece for the Utes.
Chimezie Metu paced USC with 17 points.
