DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - A public transportation strike has ended after tentative agreement was reached on a contract between the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority and the union representing its drivers and mechanics.
Bus service was expected to resume Friday morning after the RTA and Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1385 announced they reached an agreement late Wednesday following 13 hours of negotiations led by a mediator. The strike began Monday.
The pact must be ratified by union members and approved by the RTA board.
Details of the agreement weren’t disclosed. Union officials previously said the sticking points in the negotiations were back pay, working conditions and proposed changes to health care plans.
The transportation system serves about 30,000 riders a day.
The Dayton Daily News had reported the strike involved more than 460 workers.
