SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The president of Taiwan is scheduled to stop overnight in San Francisco on her way back from a diplomatic visit to Central America.
President Tsai Ing-wen is expected to arrive at San Francisco International Airport Friday and attend a banquet in her honor before leaving Saturday.
On her way to Central America, the president met with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Gov. Greg Abbott during a brief stop in Houston.
China claims Taiwan as its own territory and usually objects to other countries receiving its leader.
