PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) - Police in Portsmouth say a longtime city worker whose body was found behind a home was on the job when he was killed.
Local media outlets report that Portsmouth police say officers discovered 56-year-old Willie V. Allen’s body on Tuesday morning after receiving a call about a suspicious situation near an Interstate 264 off-ramp.
Mayor John Rowe says Allen, who was a pump station mechanic, was working at a station when he was killed. Detectives are investigating the death as a homicide.
Allen had been an employee with the City of Portsmouth for more than 30 years.
The cause of death has not been released, and officials have not given any suspect information or a motive at this time.
