John Wall continues to lag in fan voting for the All-Star Game

If John Wall wants to make the trip to New Orleans for the NBA’s All-Star Game weekend, he will need more help.

Wall is seventh among Eastern Conference guards in the second round of fan voting, which was released by the league Thursday. The NBA changed the voting process for the All-Star Game this season, adding players and the media to the mix. Fan votes will account for 50 percent of the results. The other two factions will account for 25 percent each.

Wall was seventh in the first round of voting and continues to trail Kyrie Irving, Dwyane Wade, DeMar DeRozan, Isaiah Thomas, Kyle Lowry and Derrick Rose among Eastern Conference guards.

After all votes are tallied, players will be ranked in each conference by position (guard and frontcourt) within each of the three voting groups – fan votes, player votes and media votes. Each player’s score will be calculated by averaging his weighted rank from the fan votes, the player votes and the media votes. The five players (two guards and three frontcourt players) with the best score in each conference will be named NBA All-Star Game starters. Fan voting will serve as the tiebreaker for players in a position group with the same score.
