DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - Parole has been denied for a man found living in New Orleans 10 years after fatally shooting a woman outside a southeast Alabama nightclub.

The Dothan Eagle (https://bit.ly/2ijJknw ) reported Wednesday that 50-year-old Vincent Lampkin’s request for early release was denied after being presented before the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles. Lampkin is serving a 99-year sentence for killing Gwendolyn Brock at the 500 Club in 1990.

Lampkin shot Brock in the face with a .380-caliber pistol after asking her to return a ring he had given her. Lampkin says the gun went off accidently after trying to hand the gun to Brock.

Brock died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Lampkin eluded police for almost a decade working as a barber in New Orleans under the name Leon David Joseph.
