Rep. Doug Lamborn, Colorado Republican, on Wednesday said a painting in the U.S. Capitol complex depicting police officers as pigs is “hateful and divisive” and hinted that a back-and-forth involving congressmen taking it down and rehanging it might not be over.

“This artwork is hateful and divisive. It shows cops as pigs shooting and killing people,” Mr. Lamborn said Wednesday on “Fox & Friends.” “And the congressional art competition is all about reflecting Congress, and Congress does not reflect divisiveness and hate.”

The painting was part of a congressional art competition held by Rep. William Lacy Clay, Missouri Democrat.

Rep. Duncan Hunter, California Republican, personally removed the painting last week from a hallway connecting the U.S. Capitol to congressional office buildings.

On Tuesday, Mr. Clay rehung it, and Mr. Lamborn was among several Republican congressmen who took it down again.

Asked if he would take it down again if he walks by and it’s up, Mr. Lamborn said: “If I don’t, I hope someone else does.”
