BOSTON (AP) - Sen. Elizabeth Warren has found an unusual ally in her criticism of Donald Trump’s choice for education secretary.

The Massachusetts Charter Public School Association sent a letter to the Massachusetts Democrat Monday raising concerns about Trump’s nomination of Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education.

Warren has said DeVos’ advocacy for school choice, charter schools and school voucher programs should raise alarm bells for supporters of public education.

The charter school organization says it is also concerned about reports of DeVos’ role in creating a charter system in Michigan that has been criticized for lax oversight and poor academic performance. The group said that contrasts to the high levels of accountability and oversight of the Massachusetts charter system.

Warren is a member of the committee that will hold a hearing on DeVos’ nomination.
