MSNBC’s Joy Reid abandoned any pretense of objectivity toward Planned Parenthood over the weekend by vowing that network airwaves belong to the abortion provider.

A weekend segment of “AM Joy” on Sunday featuring Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards repeatedly witnessed Ms. Reid conflating her network with the nonprofit organization. The interview, which covered the possible repeal of the Affordable Care Act and legislation to defund Planned Parenthood, ended with the host saying, “these airwaves are your airwaves.”

“I think we need to be in fight-mode as women, the idea that Planned Parenthood, Cecile, the place where, when I graduated from college and had no money and was broke and had a low-paying job, got all my health care,” Ms. Reid said, media watchdog NewsBusters reported Tuesday. “Not abortion care, health care. It literally will be defunded just like that.”

NewsBusters noted that Ms. Reid referred multiple times to “we” instead of choosing to differentiate herself from Planned Parenthood.

“We need to keep this in front of [the] mind for women,” Ms. Reid told the Planned Parenthood president. “This is an emergency.”

Planned Parenthood has existed for nearly 100 years and has roughly 650 centers across the nation. A review of its annual reports, fact sheets, and service reports from 1978 through 2014 by CNS News (an arm of the Media Research Center, which also oversees NewsBusters) estimated the total number of abortions performed by Planned Parenthood at 6.8 million as of Oct. 17, 2016.
