Protesters disrupted the hearing on Sen. Jeff Sessions’ nomination for attorney general as soon as it began, with police removing several people from the room as they called the senator “evil” and a “pig.”
A female activist from the liberal activist group Code Pink was ejected from the Senate hearing room, yelling that Mr. Sessions was “pure evil”
The woman, who was wearing a pink foam tiara, was removed from the audience by police after laughing loudly when Sen. Richard Shelby introduced Mr. Sessions and described the fellow Alabama Republican as someone committed to fairly enforcing the law.
“Why am I being taken out of here. This man is evil, pure evil,” called out the woman as she was forcibly removed by police. She continued to yell out as she was escorted to the door, imploring the senators to vote against Mr. Sessions.
A short time later, as Mr. Sessions began delivering his opening remarks, two men were removed from the room after they yelled out that Mr. Sessions and President-elect Donald Trump were racists and fascists.
“No Trump! No KKK! No fascist USA,” the two men yelled.

After they were removed from the room, a woman stood up and began chanting the same slogan.
As she was forcibly led out by policy, she yelled at Mr. Sessions: “You are a pig. Stop this racist pig from getting into power.”
Mr. Sessions is the first of President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees to face the scrutiny of a Senate confirmation hearing, and he is one of the most controversial nominees.
He is the chief target of liberal groups hoping to derail Mr. Trump’s agenda. Activists for civil rights, gay rights, illegal immigrants and marijuana legalization filled the hearing room. They are pressuring Senate Democrats, some of whom have served alongside Mr. Sessions for 20 years in the Senate, to oppose him.
