RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Latest on the severe weather impacting much of northern Nevada from California to Utah (all times local):

1:25 p.m.

A powerful winter storm packing winds gusting in excess of 90 mph along the Sierra’s eastern front has left more than 12,000 northern Nevada homes without power from north of Reno to south of Carson City.

NV Energy reports that more than 7,000 of the power outages are in Douglas County near Minden and Gardnerville south of Carson City.

About 3,000 are in the Reno area and about 1,000 in rural Lyon County east of Reno.

The National Weather Service says a 92 mph wind gust was recorded Thursday morning southwest of Reno.

The dangerous winds downed power lines near Minden, toppled two semi-trailer trucks on U.S. Highway 395 south of the California-Nevada line and blew over at least one big rig at the Hallelujah Junction on California Highway 70 north of Reno and east of Portola, California.

A wet, powerful winter storm packing winds gusting up to 80 mph is wreaking havoc across much of northern Nevada from California to Utah.

Rockslides and mudslides have closed roads around Lake Tahoe and part of a state highway washed out completely in Elko County after an earthen dam burst near the rural town of Montello about 10 miles from the Utah line.

No injuries have been reported, but Elko County has declared a state of emergency and Sheriff Jim Pitts says dozens of homes have been impacted by flood waters in Montello.

More than 7,000 homes are without power from south of Carson City to north of Reno.

The storm is expected to bring up to 2 or 3 feet of snow in the upper elevations of the Sierra into Friday. A flood warning remains in effect through Thursday night for most of the Sierra’s eastern front.

A stretch of U.S. Highway 50 on the east shore of Lake Tahoe remained closed Thursday due to a rockslide near Cave Rock and more than a foot of water flooded some city streets in South Lake Tahoe, California.

A stretch of Interstate 80 west of Reno was reopened early Thursday after a mudslide closed the westbound lanes overnight near the California-Nevada line.
