NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police have arrested a woman they say tried to rob a store in Newark.

The agency said in a news release that a woman with her face covered walked into the Village Cigarette Outlet Tuesday morning. Troopers say the woman showed an employee a knife in her waistband and demanded money.

Police say the employee ran out the back door, and the suspect left. Authorities say police spotted the woman later and took her into custody.

Nineteen-year-old Maya Howard of Newark was charged with attempted robbery and other offenses.
