BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Buffalo’s annual Italian festival will move to a new location on the city’s waterfront this summer.
The relocation from Hertel Avenue to the developing Outer Harbor after 29 years was announced Tuesday. Organizers call the new location ideal for accommodating larger crowds and more activities.
The festival, which is also adding a $5 admission fee, celebrates Italian food and culture. It will run from July 13-16 and feature cooking demonstrations, a bocce ball tournament, grape-stomping contest and Italian car show.
The development of Buffalo’s Outer Harbor took a step forward in 2013 with the transfer of 350 acres to the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp., a subsidiary of Empire State Development.
