Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Chuck Norris in Jerusalem on Wednesday, thanking the martial artist for his long-lasting support and cracking a few jokes about his famed toughness.
A video of the meeting posted on the prime minister’s Facebook page showed him shaking hands with Mr. Norris and his wife, Gena.
“Listen, Israel is strong, but it’s indestructible now,” Mr. Netanyahu said.
“I think we can tell our security people to leave,” he joked. “We don’t need them anymore.”
Mr. Norris said he and his wife had been “looking forward” to their meeting.
“Believe me, you’ll always have my support,” the actor told Mr. Netanyahu.
Mr. Norris also shared the video on his Facebook page, writing, “It was an honor to spend time with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin (Bibi) Netanyahu. God bless, Chuck Norris.”
Mr. Norris and his wife have spent the past several days in Israel. They toured the Western Wall and visited with former Foreign Ministry director-general Dore Gold over the weekend, Fox News reported.
Mr. Norris has been a vocal supporter of the prime minister, endorsing him in both of Israel’s last two elections, the Jerusalem Post reported.
