BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - State police and the Vermont Agency of Transportation say the most treacherous stretch of Interstate 89 is between Exit 16 in Colchester and Exit 13 in South Burlington.

The agencies collected and analyzed data to identify the busiest and most crash-prone section of the interstate.

State police Lt. Garry Scott tells the Burlington Free Press (https://bfpne.ws/2kDzufI) his department regularly hears complaints about the aggressive driving that occurs on that part of the roadway. He says data shows there is actually a high call volume for state police along that stretch.

More than 55,000 cars travel through that portion of I-89 each day. State agencies believe most travelers are commuting to and from work in Burlington or surrounding areas.

Scott says the state is examining solutions for keeping the roadway safe.
