LANCASTER, Calif. (AP) - The Latest on a school bus crash in Los Angeles County (all times local):

11:15 a.m.

A school district spokeswoman says a school bus that crashed onto its side following a collision with a car in Lancaster was carrying eight special education students and two staff members.

Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Richard Licon says the driver of the car and a student from the bus are hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday.

Betsy Sanchez with Antelope Valley Union High School District says a total of seven people from the bus including the school staffers were also transported.

Sanchez says the students were on their way to Eastside High School at the time of the collision that crumpled a Cadillac sedan and knocked over a utility pole.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause.

9:10 a.m.

Authorities in Los Angeles County say two people including a student are critically injured and nine other students sustained minor injuries in the crash of a school bus full of kids and a car in Lancaster.

County Fire Department Inspector Richard Licon says the driver of the car and a student from the bus are hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday.

Licon says nine other students were transported to hospitals for treatment of minor injuries. Licon didn’t know how many kids total were on the bus, which he says serves Antelope Valley Union High School District.

The California Highway Patrol says the collision was reported shortly after 7:15 a.m. at an intersection on the east side of the desert city north of Los Angeles.

A utility pole was toppled in the crash.

8:45 a.m.

Authorities in Los Angeles County say multiple injuries have been reported following the crash of a school bus full of kids and another vehicle in Lancaster.

County Fire Department spokeswoman Vanessa Lozano said Tuesday the drivers of the two vehicles are critically injured and more than 10 students are also hurt.

She did not know the extent of the students’ injuries but said some of them are minor.

The California Highway Patrol says the collision was reported shortly after 7:15 a.m. at an intersection on the east side of the desert city north of Los Angeles.

A utility pole was toppled in the crash.

The California Highway Patrol says minor injuries have been reported

CHP Officer Chris Baldonado says the collision was reported at 7:17 a.m. at an intersection on the east side of the desert city.

Baldonado didn’t immediately know how many people are injured or whether any students were aboard the bus.

He says a utility pole was downed in the crash.
