PHOENIX (AP) - Police say a man is dead after his ex-girlfriend allegedly ran over him with a car on an east Phoenix street.

Phoenix police say 24-year-old Christopher Miller was declared dead at the scene early Monday after he was extricated from underneath the vehicle.

Police say 25-year-old Verena Herron has been arrested after calling 911 and remaining at the scene.

They say she’s been booked into jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.

It was unclear if Herron has a lawyer yet.

Police say Miller was out walking with a couple when he was hit by the car.

Witnesses told police about the incident.

Police say Miller and Herron recently had an argument, but a motive isn’t immediately clear in the homicide case.
