WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A Wilmington risk manager will receive over $625,000 from the city in a wrongful termination settlement.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports (https://delonline.us/2kAzUpm) Genevieve Hinkle sued the city after she was fired in 2013 after a clerk was found to have embezzled over $30,000 from the city.

The lawsuit says the clerk’s supervisors, who are black, male and younger than her weren’t terminated.

Hinkle says she was discriminated against for being an older, white woman. She was 61 at the time.

Hinkle was still receiving full pay and benefits of roughly $80,000 annually until December, when her suit was settled. Her settlement entitles her to $172,000 in benefits commutation, 34 days of accrued leave and a $453,000 lump sum.

The mayor’s office couldn’t comment directly on the case.
