CHRISTIANA, Del. (AP) - A man has been arrested following a knife attack at a bus stop outside the Christiana Mall.

State Police Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale says 46-year-old Richard Williams pulled out a knife and tried to stab an unidentified man during an altercation Wednesday afternoon. When that man ran away, police say Williams then targeted a 22-year-old man, striking the victim’s hand and wrist with the weapon.

Security staffers were able to keep Williams away from other potential victims until state police arrived.

One officer suffered minor injuries in the ensuing struggle as authorities took Williams into custody.

The 22-year-old victim was treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The injured officer has been released.

Williams is facing numerous charges, including second-degree assault. It is unclear whether he has an attorney.
