WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch won’t serve as a juror in the homicide trial of an Oconomowoc woman.
Kleefisch was struck as a potential juror Tuesday in the trial of Amy Van Wagner, after a judge found that political donations Kleefisch has made to District Attorney Sue Opper’s campaign could give an impression of impartiality.
Wagner is on trial for being a party to first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse in the May 2015 death of her husband, Stanley Van Wagner.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports (https://bit.ly/2mHOysE ) that under questioning, Kleefisch said jurors were curious about TV news trucks outside. She also said that while she had read about the Van Wagner case, she didn’t know she could be on that jury until she was called into the courtroom.
