PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Data shows that 668 houses were sold in Rhode Island last month, an increase of more than 20 percent from January of last year.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2m31V9y ) that a monthly sales report released Tuesday by the Rhode Island Association of Realtors shows the median price of those house sales was $225,000, a decrease of $1,500, or less than 1 percent, from January 2016.

The data also shows a drop in single-family houses listed for sale in January. There were 3,194 houses listed, which is down 13 percent from January 2016, when there were 3,681 listings. There were 3,286 listings as of Feb. 27.

The report says condo sales in Rhode Island were up by 31 percent in January, with 130 condo sales, up from 99 in January 2016.
