Rosie O’Donnell, an actress and television personality who has feuded for years with President Trump, will lead a protest outside the White House Tuesday evening, activists said, just before Mr. Trump delivers his first address to a joint session of Congress.
A number of liberal groups are hosting the rally and predict thousands of people to attend.
“Following the first disastrous month of his administration, Trump is expected to articulate a discriminatory agenda that continues to put people in harm’s way, undermines equality and our shared values, and damages our environment,” the groups said in announcing their rally.
Tapping Ms. O’Donnell, who supported Hillary Clinton in last year’s election, seems certain to draw even more attention to the rally, given the decade-old feud between her and Mr. Trump.
Ms. O’Donnell has questioned Mr. Trump’s wealth, while Mr. Trump has questioned her mothering skills and her broadcasting abilities.
Those who weren’t familiar with the Twitter feud got a taste of it in August 2015 when, at the first Republican primary debate, Mr. Trump was asked about his past disparaging statements calling women “fat pigs,” “dogs” and “disgusting animals.”
“Only Rosie O’Donnell,” Mr. Trump replied.
