JOHNSTON, R.I. (AP) - A Johnston sixth grader has won the state’s Google doodle contest and is competing against students nationwide to win a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 grant for his school.
The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2m0U7FK ) Wilson El Hage, from Nicholas E. Ferri Middle School, beat out thousands to become Rhode Island’s winner in the ninth annual “Doodle 4 Google” competition.
Students redesigned Google’s logo with the theme “What I see for the future.”
The boy’s design, “The Travel Watch,” asks: “Do you want to travel into the future, see Mars or Venus? Or do you prefer to go back into the prehistoric times? The time travel watch can take you anywhere, so why not!”
A public vote will determine the five finalists. The winning design will go live on March 31.
