BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Prosecutors are dismissing more than a dozen pending cases that a Burlington police officer investigated after video surfaced that appears to show he lied about smelling marijuana during an arrest for narcotics possession.

Chittenden County prosecutors say 14 pending charges that Christopher Lopez investigated will be dismissed by the end of the day on Friday.

Lopez resigned this week amid multiple probes into whether he falsified a sworn affidavit following an October traffic stop.

Lopez wrote that a marijuana odor was emanating from the car. Body camera footage appears to show him tell another officer he didn’t smell marijuana.

Michael Mullen was charged with cocaine possession. The charge has since been dismissed.

Lopez has not been charged. Lopez’s attorney Lisa Shelkrot declined to comment.
