PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A 19th century mansion in Providence dubbed the “Wedding Cake House” is set to be sold to a feminist arts group.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2lP1jF2 ) the Providence Redevelopment Agency unanimously approved the sale of the Broadway residence to The Dirt Palace on Wednesday.

Agency executive director Bonnie Nickerson says the terms of the sale have yet to be determined.

The Dirt Palace plans to use the property for an artist-in-residence program. The group already has secured a $250,000 commitment from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.

The redevelopment agency foreclosed on the house last July based on the default of a $350,000 loan it made in 2011 to a now-defunct community development agency.
