Katy Perry endorsed Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race and earlier this month used a performance at the Grammy Awards to wage a protest against President Trump.
But the pop star proved politics doesn’t stop at the water’s edge as she adapted her political messaging for a U.K. audience at Wednesday night’s Brit Awards, according to the London Daily Telegraph.
“Performing current single Chained To The Rhythm, Perry took to the stage along with scores of dancers dressed as white houses (White Houses?) while the two skeletons [representing President Trump and Prime Minister Theresa May] shuffled in suitably sinister fashion,” explained the Telegraph Thursday.
While not an explicit condemnation of Mr. Trump and Mrs. May, the visual presentation clearly came across to viewers at home, the Telegraph said, citing social-media reaction approving of the liberal political message.
Ms. Perry’s Grammy performance similarly was understated. For her number at the music awards show, the pop star wore an armband which read “persist,” seemingly a twist on the #ResistTrump movement many liberal activists and celebrities have touted in opposing Mr. Trump’s presidency.
