Former Sen. Jim DeMint, the president of the Heritage Foundation, said Thursday that Obamacare has become a “cancer” on the country’s health care system and must be removed immediately.

Mr. DeMint said the notion that lawmakers can’t repeal Obamacare without finding a replacement is “absolutely ludicrous” and that before the law, America had the best health care system in the world.

“Obamacare has become a cancer on our health care system. We don’t need to replace the health care system — we need to remove the cancer,” Mr. DeMint said at the 2017 Conservative Political Action Conference.

“Once we get rid of Obamacare, we can begin to improve our health care system so that it works for every American,” he said.

“Obamacare must be repealed right now,” he said.
