VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - Virginia Beach has put off immediate discussions on repealing its light-rail tax.
The Virginian-Pilot reports (https://bit.ly/2lMqwQf) that city officials will wait until budget season in April.
Last fall, voters shot down the idea of extending light-rail into Virginia Beach from Norfolk. The referendum had left in limbo a 1.8 cent real estate tax increase and other budgetary changes.
The city’s light rail fund will have an estimated $30.7 million by the end of this fiscal year, according to David Bradley, the city’s director of budget.
