EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - A 78-year-old woman who died and her daughter who was injured after a knife attack in their home have been identified.

The Seattle Times reports (https://goo.gl/KRPyyh ) that Barbara Decker was killed and her daughter Janine Shaffer was injured Sunday in Decker’s Snohomish-area home.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office says Shaffer remains hospitalized.

A probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday in Everett District Court says 31-year-old John Kuljis attacked them with a knife used to cut carpet.

Documents say Kuljis was in the home with his uncle, who was doing construction work on the bathroom.

The uncle told officials that they fled after the attack and the nephew threw the knife out the window.

Kuljis is being held on $1.5 million bail.

A detective said investigators have found no motive for the attack.
