DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a murder charge filed against a Des Moines man has been dropped because new evidence shows he wasn’t involved.

Sixty-nine-year-old Milton Leak had been charged in the Jan. 2 stabbing death of 55-year-old Andrea (AHN’-dray) Brown. The Des Moines Register reports (https://dmreg.co/2jGSdVG ) that the charge was dropped Jan. 20 after police discovered conflicts in witness statements.

Polk County Attorney John Sarcone says that, barring other information, Leak “is not a person who was involved in committing this crime.”

No other arrests have been reported.
