TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson Police Chief Chris Magnus says he believes officers acted appropriately during an immigration protest that led to four arrests.
Participants in the Thursday protest against federal agents’ detentions of migrants have accused police of brutality and said arrests made by police were unwarranted.
Dozens of protesters who had gathered outside the downtown federal building walked onto a street and blocked traffic during the afternoon rush hour. Officers used pepper spray to disperse the crowd.
KVOA-TV (https://goo.gl/4lnFSZ ) reports that Magnus said Saturday he’s reviewed much of the video and believes officers “by and large” handled the situation well.
However, Magnus says the Police Department is “more than happy” to take any complaints from people and look into them.
