NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) - Police have identified the pedestrian who was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer while walking on state Route 146 in North Smithfield a week ago.

The Providence Journal reports Saturday that police say it was Raymond Lapierre. 40, of Manville, who was found near the Greenville Road on-ramp at about 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 11.

Paramedics declared Lapierre dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck has not been identified.

Police say their investigation remains ongoing.
